About Our Courses

Bright Child AZ’s Online Enrichment Courses are specifically designed for gifted and creative learners. Our highly experienced, gifted trained teachers build each course around a different theme each month. Our themes incorporate multi-curricular activities that encourage high level, creative thinking, include student choice, as well as lessons and activities that incorporate social and emotional support specifically for the gifted learner.

Each course runs for four weeks and includes 3 activities each week as well as two Google Meet group collaboration meetings that month. These meetings are facilitated by our teachers and allow the students to collaborate and learn from each other. Students get to see what other students created, build from what they learned, and grow from the experience.

We understand that not all gifted and creative minded children are having their needs met during the school day. Bright Child AZ’s Online Enrichment Courses are built for gifted and creative learners by gifted and creative teachers. They allow these unique children opportunities to grow. Our classes are meant to supplement the school day whether your child is in a typical school, online school, home school, or anything in-between. They will add enrichment to any program your child is currently in.

We are also able to offer group rates for schools who would like to supplement their gifted programs with our activities!

Courses Open in Summer 2023

	Are you curious? Do you have questions about unexplained things? In this course, you will gain a deeper understanding of the mysterious places, creatures, and people that exist in the world around you. Multiple activities and interesting challenges will be available for learners age 7 -12.

Our Teachers

Joy Lorenzen M.Ed Elementary Education M.Ed Gifted Education Certified Educator in Arizona & California Full Gifted Endorsement, State of Arizona Specialist Instruction Credential, Gifted Education, State of California	Mrs. Lorenzen is a certified gifted educator in both Arizona and California. She resides in Arizona with her husband, 1 year old son, and their 2 dogs. She has been in the education field for over nine years. Most recently, she was the Gifted Specialist for a Title 1 School in the Deer Valley School District where she provided targeted enrichment for all identified gifted students in grades K-8. She also has taught as a classroom teacher in 1st grade, 3rd grade, and the 4th grade gifted cluster classrooms. Mrs. Lorenzen holds both a Masters in Education, Gifted Education, from Grand Canyon University, as well as a Masters in Education from Arizona State University. As an identified gifted child herself, she understands the importance of providing appropriate, engaging enrichment for gifted students.
Deborah Crim Certified Educator in Arizona Full Gifted Endorsement, State of Arizona	Deb Crim is a Gifted Enrichment Specialist specializing in enrichment for grades K-2. This is her 17th year with DVUSD and she has been in education over 25 years. Deb’s classroom experience includes teaching grades 5 – 8 and now working with grades K-2. Deb has also written and taught numerous PD courses for teachers and is a highly respected teacher coach for the gifted community. When not at school, Deb enjoys hiking, exercising, cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.
Sylvia Smith Certified Educator in Arizona MA, English Literature Full Gifted Endorsement, State of Arizona	Sylvia has been a public school educator for 10 years. After achieving a gifted endorsement in 2016, she went on to get a Masters in English Literature. Sylvia has taught gifted learners in multiple grade levels including middle and high school. Sylvia enjoys time with her 3 dogs, hiking when the weather is nice, and finding great brunch spots!
